Warranties

The Bowyers Warranties

THE DO’S AND DONT’S FOR YOUR TRADITIONAL BOW

There are a number of things you should not do with or to your traditional bow.

  • Never dry fire your bow. Never (loose) your bow without a proper arrow.
  • The stored energy cannot be dispersed in the empty bow. It might shatter!
  • Never try to brace your bow backwards
  • Do not store your bow in a hot area (hot vehicle, above heaters or fireplaces, direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time, stoves etc)
  • Your longbow should be braced with a stringer cord. If that is not possible second best is the push and pull method. Never use the step-in method
  • Do not draw your bow beyond the specified draw length
  • Do not let the bow dry out and get brittle
  • Do not hold the bow at full draw for more than 2 seconds. (it is not a compound bow!)
  • Do not keep your bow braced when it is not in use. Give your bow a rest
  • Do check your string every time you brace the bow - worn strings will cause a bow failure and void warranty if the bow breaks

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR BOW

  • Keep the string waxed with beeswax or modern string-wax. A dry string breaks sooner
  • Be mindful of the bracing height. It should (for a longbow) be between 5 1/2 to 6 1/2” max depending on the bowyer. Check with the Longbow Shop for individual brace heights.
  • When your bow starts to show wear and tear than apply some beeswax or oil to protect the bow
  • If there is any problem or question regarding your bow do not hesitate to call us or send us an email and we will be happy to advise you
  • Have fun with your bow, keep your arrows straight and may your aim be true

BOW & DRAW LENGTH SUITABILITY

  • If a bow is marked for example 40#@28”, max draw 29” this bow would be suitable for someone with a draw length up to 28” NOT over 28”
  • If you had a draw length over the stated 28”, then the bow is NOT suitable for you.
  • Even though the bow may state the max draw 29”, this means that a safety margin has been built into the bow for the odd occasion when you may unknowingly draw slightly more.
  • It is not designed for you to continually draw over 28”.
  • If it is found that this is the case you will invalidate the warranty and no repair or replacement will be offered.

YOUR WARRANTY

Fully finished Longbow Shop bows are covered by the individual bowyers warranty. All unfinished bows are warranted for 90 days or until sanding and work begins by the new owner. There is no warranty on unbacked, or floor-tillered staves and core materials, unless otherwise agreed. There is no warranty on Second hand bows. It is fully at the bowyers discretion to decide if a bow has delaminated  as a result of workmanship or materials. Keep in mind heat will kill a lamination. All bows in question of warranty should be returned to the bowyer directly either in person or via post securely at the owners cost. The bowyer will not replace any bow or product that has been misused, abused or used improperly. It is at The bowyers full discretion to revoke or honour the warranty depending the outcome of their inspection. There are no exceptions to the return policy. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the customer. The Longbow Shop does not do ‘upgrades’ or replace bows with higher drawweight or longer drawlengths, nor does The Longbow Shop do money back options when requested after a warranty issue. Your bow will not be covered if a worn string causes failure.

EATON LONGBOWS

Bracing or ‘Stringing’ your longbow. No matter how strong you may be. A double loop ‘stringer’ must be used at all times and is supplied free with every longbow bought at The Longbow Shop. If a double loop stringer is not used then your warranty is null and void. Other methods used puts an undue strain on a limb pulling it ‘out of tiller’. This weakens one limb. It can also break or crack the bottom horn nock. The bow must be rested, especially after shooting by laying flat on it’s back for at least 24 hours. The bow must be stored away from any heat in a cool consistent temperature.

Eaton Longbows will replace or repair your bow should it fail free within six months of purchase. From six months to one year the bow will be rpaired or replaced at half the original purchase price (proof of purchase, date and cost will be required). The bow must be returned to the bowyer for scrutiny at the customers own cost.
